Pinewood Derby

This weekend Caleb had the Pinewood Derby for Cub Scouts.
He and Paul worked hard on this lovely little tough and indestructible army tank.

And guess what!!
He came in SECOND PLACE!!!

His friends were all congratulating him.  It was really cute.

Good job Caleb!!

Here we go again!

This was me 2.5 years ago at mile 11 of a half marathon.

Why did I look so happy?

It's because I was SO excited to see my family there cheering me on...
AND
because I was blissfully unaware of how bad the last two miles were going to
s-u-c-k.
It was SUPER hot out, mostly uphill, I could go on...  But, I did it and that's what counts, right?  Right!
It happened to be my birthday too.

Look how small the boys look!

Anyhow...I guess I liked it, because I just registered to run this in June...

Should be fun!
I've got some friends doing it too so it will be nice to do some runs together.
I'll be sure to let you know how it goes
Who else is in? :)

Someone new has been at our house...

Her name is Emily and she's our niece.  Isn't she a precious little princess?!
She (and her parents :)) recently moved here from Atlanta, and boy are we glad!
The best part is that on Tuesdays I get her all to myself.
Well, I share her with Weston and Isaac a little bit.

The other best part is that she lets me snuggle her and give her as many kisses as I want.
She loves me, I can tell.

We are actually all quite smitten with her...it's just such a change to have a little girl around!
She seems so dainty compared to my boys.  They sure love having her close by.

I'm sure you'll be seeing lots more of this little one in the future.
Welcome to Washington Emily!!!

A Cute Boy & My New Toy

I'm practicing shooting in manual mode with my new lens.
I wish I had more time to read up on all of this photography stuff, but I'll get there.
In my 1.5 seconds of spare time that I have to read...I'll get there.

Today Isaac got the pleasure of being photographed a million times
while he tried to enjoy his lunch.
Thanks I-guy, you're a trooper!
So, for all of you that don't get to see this little cutie-pie on a regular basis,
enjoy a lunch date with Isaac.

P.S.- I guess I'm into owls now.  Notice my new blog header and Isaac's bib? :)

Our Christmas

I hope you all had a great Christmas with friends and family.
It's hard to believe that it's already over!
Paul pulled out all the stops by giving me a gift for each of the 12 days of Christmas.
Here is a sampling of my treats!

He did this a few years ago too.  I know... he's a keeper.

Paul's parents flew in from California on Christmas day.  His sister Caroline, her husband Kiyo, and their daughter Emily recently moved within walking distance, so they were here too!  Just a side note: I LOVE having my niece close by.  She is the cutest little cuddle-bug and I need to get more pictures of her!
After a morning of opening presents, the party began!

Caleb and Weston modeling their new Gymboree shirts from Grammie!

Isaac enjoyed all of the loot!

Caleb had fun showing Granddad how to play the Wii!

The boys were proud of the bookmarks that they made for their grandparents!

We always love it when they come to visit.
We headed to Snowflake Lane in Bellevue for some festive fun...

And the next day we enjoyed some real snow of our very own!

We hope your 2011 is off to a
GREAT start!!!
